About Me
Hello, I am Rian, and I write science fiction and fantasy.
Some call it fascination, others would see it as an obsession, either way, my love for storytelling is endless. I love stories in all kinds of media: books, films, television shows, video games, and probably even more which I am forgetting right now. The imagination of others has always fascinated me. In middle school I wrote my first crime short story: "A Rat in a Cage". Maybe I will release that here, in edited form some time in the future. I graduated in bio sciences and started to work in the field. If it was my love for science fiction which started me on this journey I do not know, but my background in science is deeply interwoven with the subjects I write about.
No matter if I write science fiction or fantasy, I always explore contemporary struggles by using the fantastic as a guise. I deliberately engage with political topics and love exploring the distinctive features of sociological storytelling. The Other carries the same weight in my stories as the heroic named hero. I am drawn to stories about the normal people, the working people. In my stories, the faceless are given a face, the nameless are given a name.

SHORES Season 1: Forest of Murienmar
The first season in the SHORES universe starts with a mystical journey through the Forest of Murienmar. The young Umbra Claw Rhynne is sent out into the wilderness to test her skills as a Druid and her knowledge of her ancestry. Depending on the outcome of this quest the Elders might deem her worthy to leave the island and explore foreign shores. On her way Rhynne will gather a party of fellow adventurers who all have their own reasons to explore the hidden places and vanquish the numerous epic foes of SHORES.
VANGUARDS
After the brutal coup twenty years ago, the Sketo Empire ramps up its ruthless conquest on Valden. The Confluence stays quiet. Oppositional voices inside are few and far between. Tales surrounding the notorious but mysterious Lost Colony warn of a threat looming on the horizon. Only the Archive can reveal more about the truth, but its outposts are scattered and hidden. It is a race against time as Sketo threatens to lash out against the Krisparians, who protect the fertile future of humanity in their secluded caves.
The Vagabond - A SHORES Story
A standalone entry to the SHORES universe. It contains the same high fantasy setting, with its known anthropomorphised animal groups, and the typical RPG class identity: Warlocks, Druids, Rogues, and more; but all with a darker twist. This dark tale places you in the perspective of a nameless adventurer who wanders through the night and stumbles upon a cozy inn at the end of the road. The secluded village is haunted by a dark mystery and the nameless Traveller must help the people in need. With the demon breathing down his neck, the Traveller follows the trail through the darkness of the thicket that eventually leads through ruins in the swamp, a kingdom in the forest, and strange decaying lands.
