Also known as fog cat, nebuline have the ability to vanish into the mists, right in front of oneβs eyes. Nebuline inhabit the woods around the Shimmer Lakes, where they emerge from the forest edge at night, to dwell along the moonlight-soaked shores.
While encountering one is relatively common, observing them when they actually nebulise is very rare and is seen as an omen of good luck. Mythological texts are filled with mentions of the fog cat. Most are primary myths, connecting the nebuline to locations which signal a transition, the space between life and death, like bogs and marshland. Secondary myths reference certain times of the day or the seasons, most often creating a relationship between light and shadow.
It is no coincidence that the nebuline is also the patron animal of those who follow the shadow path. Rogues must study the fog cats closely. At one point in their journey, they are tasked with investigating the lore of these creatures and to delve deeper into their mythical history. That knowledge is needed to unlock the skill which allows someone to vanish into the mists and hide in plain sight.
