Along the shores of the Shimmer Lakes stalks the One-Armed Empress. This giant beast resembles a grotesque union of fungus and crab. She often lurks in the shallows, where her husk protrudes from the water and looks like cracked rock to unknowing travellers. The origin of the Empress is a mystery. What came first, the crab or the fungus? Nobody really knows, or cares, for that matter. What everybody agrees on is that she is as dangerous as she is scary. Her healthy claw can snip mature trees in half as if they were paper, and the sheer mass of spores she releases with every move of her deformed mushroom arm can suffocate anyone in seconds.
