The only trail to the Tar Crucible, a notorious dungeon in the mountains, is a pass through the Alley of Spines. Known as a hazardous ravine, its environment is shaped by the skeletal remains of a dead Leviathan. The path is dreary and sombre, sapped of all life, littered with massive white spikes and spires. Like a canopy they span the gorge, as the tips of some of them almost touch, far up in the sky. Splinters, thick as rocks and sharp as blades, impede the journey. The smaller ones cut the skin like a thicket of thorns while the bigger ones slice through flesh like the sharpest of knives. Anyone who dares crossing this gulch without the proper gear will bleed out long before reaching the other end.

Somewhere on the border of the Fungal Sea and the Mosswood, Bombyx the Giant has her lair. The massive silk wyrm produces resilient fibers which protect from the deadly environment in the Alley of Spines.

  1. Locate the cave of Bombyx.
  2. Obtain her silk (maybe a good bargain will suffice).
  3. Take the fibers to a master silk weaver.
  4. Craft the ribbons for your armour.
  5. Cross the treacherous gulch.

As you stand before Bombyx, you look into two dark spherical eyes. You approach and realise the spheres are actually thousands of small black bumps, observing you all at once. In contrast, her thick white fur seems to glow. She spreads her massive white wings which sheds a coat of white dust. Thousands of tiny scales on her wings shimmer in the dim light of the cave. The brown antennae are shaped like long wide rakes and hang to the side of her head like ears. Her shrill voice echoes in your head like the wail of a banshee. β€œAll of you are here to steal from me. You are here to steal my silk, to steal my children. This is my heritage, mine alone!”
